Ali Allahverdi is a Professor in the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering of Kuwait University. He received his B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Istanbul Technical University and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York, USA. He worked for two years at Marmara University, Istanbul, Turkey, before joining Kuwait University in 1995. He received Distinguished Researcher Award in 2003 and 2015 from Kuwait University. This award was in recognition of excellent performance and outstanding achievement in research for the previous ten years. Moreover, he received Research Performance Awards from Kuwait University in 2004, 2010, 2014 which was in recognition of exceptional results of outstanding significance and demonstrated research output of a conducted project. He also received the Dissertation Prize from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and promise for a successful career in 1993. He published more than 110 papers, receiving more than 6000 citations, in well-known international journals. Moreover, he presented more than 100 papers at international conferences. Furthermore, he served in the advisory/scientific/program committee of more than 100 international conferences. He has been the editor of European Journal of Industrial Engineering since 2007 and served as guest editor for journals such as European Journal of Operations Research and International Journal of Production Research. He is currently serving as associate editor of several journals and on the editorial board of several other journals. He has been an ABET Industrial Engineering Program evaluator since 2011.
